Welcome to the 86th BB - First for Boys in Giffnock
What is it all about? 
It's a completely revised programme of activities to allow you to progress through the scheme to the President's and Queen's Badges. It is geared for all Company Section ages and starts with the new recruit who begins on the Compass badge.
The scheme has three main zones COMMUNITY, RECREATION and SKILLS. These zones are broken down further into the following areas. Boys who successfully complete the required number of activites will be awarded the corresponding badge. We now have the full programme pack and it is absolutely brilliant. There is far too much in the programme to do justice to the research done by the officers who have been working very hard to bring this to the UK. The standards now will ensure the Boys' Brigade will continue to assist young boys to develop into young men who are clear leaders. Businesses will recognise the tie up with the the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and the benefit of the many practical aspects of the programme. Below is an idea of how it all works.

There are two further zones entitled Christian Faith and Extras which complement the three programme zones and provide additional material for devotions, themed evenings and lots more.

This is how the new badges look and what you have to achieve to be awarded them

The Compass Badge is awarded to new recruits who have successfully completed 6 activities split equally between Community, Recreation and Skills. This is generally awarded after 5 or 6 weeks.

Community Stage 1 Badges are awarded to Boys in P7 who successfully complete a minimum of 7 activities from the above list. |
 |
Recreation Stage 1 Badges are awarded to Boys in P7 who successfully complete a minimum of 10 activities from the above list. |
 |
Skills Stage 1 Badges are awarded to Boys in P7 who successfully complete a minimum of 10 activities from the above list. |
 |
Discovery Badge is awarded to Boys in S1 who have completed the undernoted activities
- completed at least 30 topics from the Company Section programme, having gained Recreation, Skills and Community Badges in the past 12 months
- have taken part in a residential experience (eg camp, holiday, sleepover, midnight hike, crossover) and perform an active / visible role in a Company event, Battalion event, or Church Service or Event.
- maintained a good attendance record for one session

Community Stage 4 Badges are awarded to Boys in S3 who successfully complete a minimum of 7 activities from the above list. |

Recreation Stage 4 Badges are awarded to Boys in S3 who successfully complete a minimum of 10 activities from the above list. |
